// Engagement Model · BOT
Build–Operate–Transfer for engineering teams.
A strategic model for building long-term engineering capacity without taking the full risk of standing up a new location or team from scratch. Fast team growth, operational stability, and the option for future ownership.
// How it works
Three phases. One trajectory.
The Build–Operate–Transfer model is designed for companies that want to build long-term engineering capacity while reducing setup risk in the early phase. Each phase moves control progressively toward you.
BPHASE 01
Build
Maasu helps define the required skills, recruits the right engineers, and sets up a dedicated team based on your technical needs assembled deliberately around your domain.
→
OPHASE 02
Operate
Maasu manages the team, supports daily operations, ensures stability, and integrates the engineers into your project environment, tools, and processes.
→
TPHASE 03
Transfer
After a defined period, you have the option to take over the established team giving you long-term control while the early-phase setup risk has already been absorbed.
BOT is a practical alternative to classic outsourcing and to setting up your own location directly. It combines fast team growth, operational support, and a clear path to future ownership.
// Our BOT experience
Proven with a German Tier 1 supplier.
Maasu has successfully applied this model in collaboration with a German Tier 1 automotive supplier. The cooperation started in April 2022 with an initial team of three and within only 1.5 years, grew to thirty dedicated engineers.

// Scope of collaboration
Two engineering fronts, one team.
During this partnership, Maasu supports the Tier 1 supplier across both customer-facing and internal engineering work demonstrating the ability to build, operate, and scale dedicated automotive engineering teams in a reliable, sustainable way.
◆
OEM Project Support
Dedicated engineering capacity contributing directly to the supplier's OEM program embedded in the customer's project environment, tools, and processes.
◇
Internal Engineering Projects
The same team supports the supplier's own internal engineering initiatives extending long-term technical capacity beyond a single program.

// Common questions
FAQ: Build–Operate–Transfer Collaboration.
Build–Operate–Transfer is a collaboration model where Maasu builds a dedicated engineering team for the customer, operates and manages it during the initial phase, and gives the customer the option to transfer the established team into their own organization after a defined period.
Classic outsourcing is usually focused on external project delivery. BOT is different because the team is built specifically for the customer and can later become part of the customer's own organization. It combines fast scaling with long-term ownership potential.
BOT is suitable for companies that need long-term engineering capacity, especially in automotive software, embedded systems, testing, HiL, E/E engineering or related technical areas.
It is especially relevant for companies that want to scale faster but do not want to immediately set up their own location, local legal structure or full operational team.
During the Build phase, Maasu supports the definition of required skills, recruits suitable engineers, sets up the team structure, organizes onboarding and aligns the team with the customer's tools, processes and project requirements.
During the Operate phase, Maasu manages the local team, supports daily operations, ensures team stability, handles administrative topics and helps integrate the engineers into the customer's engineering environment.
During the Transfer phase, the customer has the option to take over the established team after an agreed period. This may include transferring employees, knowledge, processes and operational responsibilities into the customer's organization.
No. The transfer can be defined as an option depending on the agreement. Some customers may choose to continue operating the team with Maasu, while others may decide to transfer the team after the collaboration has matured.
Maasu focuses on automotive engineering teams, including embedded software development, HiL testing, test automation, diagnostics, functional safety support, E/E engineering and related software testing activities.
Yes. Maasu has successfully applied the BOT model in collaboration with a German Tier 1 automotive supplier. The cooperation started in April 2022 with 3 employees and grew to 30 employees within 1.5 years.
During this collaboration, Maasu supports the customer both on an OEM project and on the supplier's own internal engineering projects.
No. BOT is a strategic collaboration model and is not suitable for every project or every customer. Before starting a BOT collaboration, Maasu's management team evaluates the potential fit with the customer.
This assessment includes the customer's long-term engineering needs, expected team size, technical requirements, project environment, communication structure and strategic goals. The goal is to make sure that BOT creates real value for both sides and can be implemented successfully.
To ensure quality, focus and strong management attention, Maasu works with a limited number of BOT clients at the same time.
Currently, Maasu can handle a maximum of two BOT collaborations in parallel. This allows Maasu to provide each customer with the necessary leadership, recruiting focus, operational support and long-term commitment required for a successful BOT setup.
The ideal company size depends on the customer's engineering demand, project structure and long-term growth plans. In general, BOT is most suitable for companies with approximately 50 to 5,000 employees.
This range includes growing technology companies, mid-sized automotive suppliers, engineering service providers and larger organizations that need dedicated long-term engineering capacity but do not want to build a new location completely on their own from day one.
